Strategic Marketing

As a marketing associate at Oxford University Press, I serve as a full-service account coordinator for 12 academic journals. I work to develop branding for journals, increase visibility and usage, solicit high-quality article submissions, analyze marketing efforts and competitive landscape, and build strong relationships with external stakeholders.

My job means creating value and fostering trust within the academic community through the promotion of high-quality, innovative research.

On a daily basis, I am responsible for:

Campaign planning

Strategizing year-long marketing plans

Generating specific, measureable annual goals and benchmarks for each journal


Monitoring analytics for marketing activities and determining return on investment

Reporting results of campaigns to key stakeholders through written reports

Situational and competitive analysis

Relationship building with key stakeholders and societies

Social media marketing

Display advertising

Search engine marketing (Google AdWords)

Paid social advertising (LinkedIn, Facebook, Reddit)

Maintaining websites through content management systems (WordPress, Drupal)

Coordinating and attending academic conferences to increase visibility in relevant fields

Balancing the workload of 26+ journals and multiple managers; time management
